Of all the various ingredients used in the manufacturing of modern concrete, the cheapest, most difficult to control, and most important to the quality and quantity of the concrete plant's production is water.

Water in semi-dry concrete mixes is invisible. It appears intangible because it is not subject to the precise methods of measurement as used with other materials. It is obvious that this is true because it is impractical, in the high production plant, to remove all moisture from the materials used, and then subject them to weight or volume measurement so that exact proportions are maintained. To do so would still not provide the answer to the correct quantity to use.

The information contained in this website concerns the measurement and control of the water content of the ingredients used in the mixing of concrete. The equipment described is that manufactured by Le Sueur Manufacturing Company, Inc.
